The ancient lava flows of past eruptions from Mt. Ollague (Chile/Bolivia border) create a rugged landscape of canyons and arroyos where native hardy plants survive the high-altitude, and freezing cold winds of the Sud Lipez region in the Department of Potosi in the southwestern corner of Bolivia.
